The Award framework

The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award is a non-formal education and learning framework operating in more than 130 countries and territories around the world, through which young people’s achievements outside of academia are recognised and celebrated.

The Award is comprised of three levels and four sections. Participants complete all four sections at each level in order to achieve their Award. At Gold level, participants also complete a Residential Project.

    1. Bronze : For those over 14 years old
      Silver : For those over 15 years old
      Gold : For those over 16 years old
  • Each of the three levels is divided into four sections to provide a balanced programme of personal development. With an additional requirement at gold level; which is the RESIDENTIAL PROJECT :whose aim is to broaden the experience of the participants through involvement with others in a residential setting.

    SKILLS

    this section encourages the development of personal interests, creativity or practical skills.

    SERVICE

    this section enables participants to learn how to give useful service to others

    PHYSICAL RECREATION

    this section serves to encourage participation in physical recreation and improvement of performance.

    ADVENTUROUS JOURNEY

    this section encourages a spirit of adventure and discovery whilst undertaking a journey in a group.
